For the fifth year in succession, Corby town centre’s Market Walk East car park has been awarded the prestigious British Parking Association’s Park Mark Safer Parking Award.
Assessors from Northamptonshire Police and the British Parking Association noted in their report that the car park is well managed, clean, well laid out and secure. They also commented that the site lighting has been designed to high modern standards with 24/7 CCTV surveillance, signage and directional markers are clear and pedestrian access routes are well defined.
Our car park recently became one of the first recipients of the Park Access Award of Excellence, a brand new accreditation that aims to become recognised throughout the whole of the UK for accessible and inclusive parking facilities. Park Access enables everyone, regardless of their accessibility needs, to identify car parks and facilities that they can use with ease.
The Market Walk East surface car park in Anne Street was constructed six years ago following the demolition of the former multi-storey car park. It comprises 472 spaces, with 16 Parent & Child and 26 Accessible bays. Entry and exit are barrier controlled and payment is via a Pay on Foot system (free parking on Sundays and bank holidays). The site is covered by an extensive CCTV system.
Centre Director Dan Pickard says: “We are delighted to achieve this further accolade for our car park. The award recognises that we have management practices and other measures in place that actively reduce crime. Park Mark car parks look and feel safer, which means Corby town centre users can park with confidence.”
